Commissioning (Cx)

Commissioning, a quality assurance process, can be applied to buildings being planned or under construction, and also to completed builds not already commissioned. To prevent excessive energy consumption and comply with the standards of the building energy code, EnerZam can analyze plans and make building site visits.
  • Optimal performance of equipment and buildings
  • Reduced operating costs and substantial energy savings
  • Minimization of future investment risks (e.g., new equipment, refurbishments)
  • Comfort guarantee for building occupants
  • Assistance during the construction phase
  • Understanding of a set of factors influencing the performance of a building
  • Feedback on potential savings (e.g., energy, CO2, dollars)
  • Complete information transfer (operator training, detailed documents, etc.)
  • High attention to details and efficiency
  • Complete and detailed review of all project data (calculations, selections, control sequences) to enable a harmonious relationship with professionals to ensure an efficient result
  • Measurement & Verification (M&V)

EnerZam employees have in-depth knowledge of the ESE project process and have assisted several institutions, from the call for applications to the completion of the project, to the call for proposals.
We have the expertise for the technical review of proposals and feasibility studies as well as contractually advising our clients. We have developed our own energy monitoring tools, which respect the PIMVR, to carry out energy monitoring in Option A, B or C. Having PIMVR certified professionals, we have all the knowledge to support and advise you on an ESE project, while considering the consequences of our advice on the entire lifespan of the project.

    Grant Management

Our experienced team supports our clients in all the steps of the grant process to identify and create the necessary documents required for grant filing, thus minimizing technical and administrative errors, as well as additional delays in grant approvals. Our experienced team supports you in all the steps to identify and create the necessary documents required for the grant filing, thus minimizing technical and administrative errors, as well as additional delays in grant approvals.
EnerZam is experienced in the numerous grant programs offered by various organizations such as Énergir, Hydro Quebec, CMHC, BEIE, SaveOnEnergy, and MEES. The intention of EnerZam is to help you obtain the maximum amount of grants by coordinating each file in a personalized way. Thus, our grant management process guarantees you attractive amounts of financial assistance for your projects. This will generates an optimization of the energy performance of your buildings and also reducing the operating costs. Our subsidy management service also is applicable to rental projects by calculating the payback time.

    ESCO Project Consulting

EnerZam employees have in-depth knowledge of the ESCO project process, and they have assisted several institutions with their call for application to the completion of their project, and with their call for proposals.

    Re-Commissioning (RCx)

Re-Commissioning (RCx) is the analysis of an existing building and its various components with a goal to ensure its optimal operation (e.g., regarding comfort, energy efficiency, long-term operation) without major modifications. EnerZam scrupulously follows the re-commissioning process developed by Natural Resources Canada, which includes the following steps: planning, investigation, implementation, training, and follow-up. Our agents are recognized by various grant programs including ENERGIR and TEQ. Based on site visits, our re-commissioning agents analyze a building’s TQCs, connections to the BMS for the use of our Joule M&V tool, and the building’s HVAC components so to determine the needed changes for achieving optimal operation.
  • Low investment service
  • Short return on investment (2–3 years)
  • Service that focuses on cost-free or low-cost measures
  • Re-commissioning that directly impacts building performance
  • Ability to secure available grants (up to 50% of the investigation phase)
  • Enerzam is accredited by the TEQ and ENERGIR for their grant programs
  • Complete competence in HVAC: design, operation, control
  • Field engineers · Update reports that serves directly as a scope of work for the implementation phase
  • Specialists in complex commissioning. including heat recovery systems, geothermal energy, solar heating, VAV systems. etc.
  • Energy Audit- Existing and New buildings

EnerZam can perform ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 energy audits for our customers for both existing and new buildings. At the completion of the energy evaluation, to help our customers in their decision making processes, we can develop energy efficiency measures by providing costs, energy and maintenance savings, available grants, and the return on investment. The expertise of our commissioning agents enable us to develop feasible and sustainable energy saving measures over time, in consideration of our clients’ specific needs and the actual needs of their buildings
  • The EnerZam team is convinced that an accurate evaluation of the functionality of systems, and an adjusted water and energy balance, are the keys to the successful development of performance improvement measures. In addition, EnerZam uses approved processes that are recognized by ASHRAE guidelines as best practice. We carry out our Level 2 audits in accordance with the ASHRAE procedures guide 2nd edition (2011).
  • To better characterize the energy consumption envelope, EnerZam uses a powerful energy simulation tool for its energy audits.
  • The energy audit mandates carried out by EnerZam are eligible for various grant programs (e.g., 50% of audit fees)
  • Energy Simulation

EnerZam uses an advanced simulation approach to assess the energy performance of all types of projects, especially new buildings. The outcome of an energy simulation project is lower operating costs and better management of investments for building improvements. This procedure ensures the sustainability of investment value, while reducing the carbon footprint of a building. The EnerZam team has mastered the use of energy simulation software to perform 3D thermal simulations.
  • Project energy data before and after the implementation of performance improvement measures (MAP)
  • Optimization of a real estate construction project
  • Low cost investment for future financial savings
  • Overview of the energy efficiency of a building
  • Identification of future investment needs
